How doors come off the track
Most off-track doors trace back to one of a few causes: a car or trash can bumping the door, a broken cable or roller letting one side drop, worn or bent track from years of use, or a lift cable that jumped its drum after a spring failed. However it happened, the rollers are no longer seated in the track and the door’s weight is now unsupported in places — which is why it can be genuinely hazardous.
Why you should not force it
Please do not run the opener or muscle an off-track door up or down. A door that is off its track is unbalanced and can drop suddenly or come the rest of the way off, and the cables and springs involved store dangerous tension. Keep people and cars clear, and call us. We reseat the rollers, straighten or replace bent track sections, repair whatever caused the derailment — often a roller, cable or spring — and test the door’s balance and travel before we leave.

Can I put the door back on the track myself?
We do not recommend it. An off-track door is unbalanced and can fall, and the springs and cables are under dangerous tension. Keep everyone clear and call us; it is a same-day fix in most cases.
My door jammed halfway and leans to one side — what now?
Stop using the opener and leave the door where it is. That lean means it is off the track, usually from a broken roller or cable. Call us and we will realign it and fix the underlying cause safely.
Will you fix what caused it, not just re-seat the door?
Yes. Re-seating the rollers without fixing the broken roller, cable, spring or bent track just means it happens again. We repair the root cause and test the whole door before we leave.
